Serpentine Galleries
Kensington Gardens · South Kensington or Lancaster Gate tube
The Serpentine Galleries comprise two spaces in Kensington Gardens: the Serpentine South, a former tea house built in 1934, and the Serpentine North (formerly the Serpentine Sackler Gallery), a 1805 gunpowder store with a dramatic 2013 extension by Zaha Hadid. Together they present a world-class programme of contemporary art and architecture exhibitions. The annual Serpentine Pavilion, commissioned each year from an internationally acclaimed architect, has become one of the world's most anticipated architectural events. Admission to the permanent programme is free.
