Leighton House Museum
Holland Park · High Street Kensington tube
Leighton House Museum is the former private house and studio of Frederic, Lord Leighton (1830–1896), President of the Royal Academy and one of the greatest Victorian painters. Built over 30 years from 1864, it represents the supreme example of an artist's house in London. At its heart is the breathtaking Arab Hall, constructed to display Leighton's collection of over 1,000 Islamic tiles and featuring a golden mosaic ceiling and central fountain. The house also contains an extraordinary collection of Victorian art, including works by Leighton, Millais, Burne-Jones, and Watts. After extensive restoration, it reopened in 2023 in all its glory.
